Farm fresh food

May 23, 2009

I’ve spent a couple of hours putting together a Google map of Southern Alberta U-pick farms.  Having spent that time, it occurred that the Agriculture Deparment at the Province may already have done something along these lines.  Yep! And far better than I could do!

The Government of Alberta — Agriculture and Rural Development has created a great Google map that allows you to filter the list by fruit/vegetable/animal, and then by the foodstuffs under each of those categories!

Whether you are fervent about knowing where your food comes from, committed to eating a 100km diet, or are just looking for a fun day-trip from Calgary, the Alberta Farm Fresh Producer’s Association map will assist you in pinpointing some options.

Link to map, in case you missed it above.

I was just wishing for a map like this yesterday! Thanks for putting one together and sharing!

You’re welcome Heather. Though I didn’t really put it together. Your tax dollars did that! But I found it! I’ve never done any direct-from-farm shopping, but I’m really looking forward to tons of it this year. I can’t see how it wouldn’t be a hoot.
