Blogging has been light for the last couple of weeks. That’s a combination of a variety of things, not the least of which is the pig pox (or buffalo blight, or some other nasty-sounding thing) that not only hit me the first time around, but decided to spin and blindside me one more time. I’m still fighting off the effects of the second bout. I hope to live.
However, a couple of weeks ago, in the couple of hours I managed to haul my sorry, sick ass out of bed, I tracked down a great old postcard of Calgary on eBay. A few hours later, my bid won, and I am now the proud owner.
I tried to do some research on a few things related to this card, but find myself ever-so-tuckered. I blame the schnauzer scourge. Regardless, it’s my bedtime, so it’ll wait for another day.
Here is the front of the card:

It appears to be placed around 1st Street SW, but I can’t be certain until I complete that research that I’m not doing tonight.
The back of the card:

It’s postmarked April 14, 1908, and was mailed to Buffalo, NY.
The front of the card features A.W. Ward’s grocery store fairly prominently. I haven’t been able to find out much about the man so far, except that he was a Baptist, and on August 10, 1903, he and his wife went to Banff to visit.

Ain’t it great they don’t put this in papers anymore? Do I really need y’all knowing when I’m outta town, so’s you can rifle through my shit and scoop my private papers? No, indeed.
